Emily was born right here in the Grit City, at Tacoma General Hospital. While she grew up in Olympia, she convinced Nic to move to Tacoma’s beautiful North End in 2007. He’s been thanking her ever since. Before that, Emily graduated from Connecticut College (no, not UCONN) with majors in Sociology Based Human Relations and Religious Studies (for fun). After graduating, she thought she would follow in her family’s footsteps and go to law school, but quickly realized that focusing on and studying for the LSAT was the last thing she wanted to do! Instead, her path lead her to Tacoma’s Westgate Capital Consultants, an established independent investment advising firm where she was a relationship manager for their group retirement plan business. Ten years at Westgate Capital and then the surprise arrival of their twins, Jonathan and Josephine (big sisters Everly and Elowyn were already a handful) Emily made the difficult decision to step away from a career that she loved. After juggling four kiddos and a very busy household for a number of years, Nic finally succeeded in persuading Emily to jump back into the workforce. Emily joined the Commencement Bay Brokers team in 2019 and hasn’t looked back. She handles the business’ financials as well as the team’s benefits and human resource responsibilities (and keeps Nic on his toes!) When not chasing Nic, four kiddos and a dog around, Emily loves to read, coach soccer, golf with Nic, and spend time with family and close friends (hopefully with a glass of wine in hand!)
